Medical Surgical Nurse

Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomies. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments, and evaluate medication compatibility for procedure safety. Assemble, restock, QC, and maintain supplies and equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. Schedule is variable 1st shift Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with rotating on-call requirements. This role involves traveling to different hospitals and Red Cross sites to deliver lifesaving treatments as part of the world's largest humanitarian network.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination status (fully vaccinated or approved exemption process)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous apheresis or dialysis experience
- Customer service experience
- Effective verbal communication (public relations skills)
