Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency room, and freestanding outpatient centers. Execute venipunctures, central venous catheter access, and all phases of therapeutic apheresis including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, and stem cell harvests. Act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel, assess patient status relative to procedures, and coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments. Evaluate medication compatibility and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness. Standard schedule involves variable 1st shift Monday to Friday with rotating on-call duties. Requires current state licensure as a Registered Nurse, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license. No prior apheresis experience is required; comprehensive training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing, OR-related experience
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination (or approved exemption process)
