Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) determines donor eligibility, manages donor adverse events, reviews laboratory test results, and notifies donors of unsuitable results. Works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and Center Physician for medical issues, with familiarity in regulations of the plasma collection industry and support of environmental, health and safety programs. Responsibilities include informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SERological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE); evaluates donor reactions and follows SOPs for medical emergencies including donor transport to emergency care facilities. Supports Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees and may serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS. Requires LPN/LVN licensure, CPR/AED, basic IV therapy training, and at least two years of clinical/hospital experience. Compensation includes hourly wage range of $24.32-$33.44 in Fond du Lac, WI, with comprehensive benefits; this role is part-time. bioLife/Takeda is committed to equity and a supportive workplace.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
