Job Summary
Medical Support Assistant (MSA) to provide front-line administrative and patient support within VA clinics. Responsibilities include welcoming Veterans, scheduling, canceling and managing patient appointments per VA guidelines, maintaining accurate patient records in the electronic health record, providing clerical support to clinic staff, routing calls, monitoring schedules and no-shows, and assisting with opening/closing tasks and correspondence. The role requires strong customer service, organization, HIPAA and Joint Commission compliance, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Education required is High School Diploma or GED, with English fluency and ability to obtain any necessary background clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of six months of customer service experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to type at least 50 words per minute
- Basic understanding of healthcare delivery and medical terminology preferred
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess a Permanent Resident Card
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required background investigation or clearance
