Job Summary
Schedule, cancel, and reschedule Veteran appointments with community providers while processing consults and referrals using VA systems. Contact Veterans and providers by phone and correspondence to verify and update demographic and insurance information. Track consult statuses, escalate urgent cases, and maintain accurate records to ensure timely administrative workflow completion. Use Microsoft Office daily and navigate electronic medical record systems. This role supports the VA South Texas Veterans Health Care System's Care in the Community program for Veterans residing within 50 miles of San Antonio, TX.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of scheduling experience
- Basic medical terminology knowledge
- Typing speed of 50+ WPM
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Comfortable working in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Strong oral and written English communication skills
- U.S. resident
- Pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation
- Obtain and maintain a VA PIV card and network access
- Complete mandatory VA training (provided) prior to and during employment
- No health or physical limitations that would restrict performance of clerical/administrative duties
