Medical Staff Specialist

Job Summary
Execute credentialing and privileging processes, coordinate administrative and medical staff meetings, and maintain documentation of medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations. Manage physician quality information, conduct managed care audits, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements. Record and follow through on medical staff decisions while maintaining confidentiality and effective communication with staff, management, and executive leadership. Utilize medical staff software to perform general operational duties and create agendas or transcribe accurate minutes as required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years related experience OR 2 years experience with bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of medical staff protocols and principles, including the Medical Staff Standards of The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services or Credential Management System (CMS) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and healthcare terminology
- Ability to and experience in creating agendas, taking meeting minutes and transcribing accurate minutes
- Strong problem solving, decision-making and delegation skills
- Organizing and prioritizing skills
- Ability to work with and experience working with and maintaining confidential information
- Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
- Individuals who reside in and will work from Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington D.C. are not eligible for remote work position
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 years of credentialing and/or medical staff office experience
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management certification
