Job Summary
Evaluate potential donors for plasmapheresis by conducting confidential interviews, performing medical history screenings, and administering physical examinations of the eyes, ears, nose, throat, neck, abdomen, extremities, and neurological system. Manage donor medical incidents, handle emergencies per standard operating procedures, and administer medications within licensure scope while obtaining informed consent. Review laboratory test results to determine donor suitability, counsel unsuitable donors, and refer them for follow-up. Maintain donor and center record confidentiality, operate the center computer system, and document discussions with the medical director.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient computer literacy, including Word and basic spreadsheet capabilities.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have good customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external communication.
- Basic math skills (related to determining donor eligibility, recognition, and draw information).
- Ability to read and comprehend written procedures and instructions.
- Ability to work flexible shifts.
- Ability to analyze errors and make effective corrections to prevent recurrence.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to teach others.
- Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member.
- Integrity to admit error (or possible error), which could result in the release of an unsafe product.
- Ability to resolve both internal and external customer service problems in a positive manner.
- Graduation from a nursing, EMT, and/or Paramedic training program accredited by the state in which the donor center operates.
- Must have excellent donor assessment skills.
- Must be able to manage emergency situations in accordance with standard medical care practices and with a calm demeanor.
- Previous work experience should demonstrate adaptability to changing priorities, excellent attention to detail, legible handwriting, and the ability to deal effectively with people.
- Minimum two years' experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred.
- Must have current CPR certificate in the state in which the center operates.
- Must be currently licensed for the state in which the center operates and must maintain that licensure.
- Valid LVN, RN, EMT, and/or Paramedic license is required.
- Valid Driver's License is preferred.
- Must undergo a pre-employment drug test in accordance with PlasmaShare's established guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a plasma center environment is a plus.
- Minimum two years' experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred.
