Job Summary
The Medical Services Coordinator serves as the point of contact to coordinate medical care and support patients and psychiatric clinicians, delivering high-quality, compassionate service for in-person and telehealth care. Responsibilities include handling prior authorizations, lab orders, patient records and paperwork, coordinating external referrals, triaging urgent patient needs, assisting with telehealth access and patient portals, and providing clinician support through documentation and communication. Key skills include excellent multitasking and prioritization, strong written and verbal communication, HIPAA compliance, proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office, data-entry accuracy, and a collaborative approach to improving patient experience and staff engagement.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent required
- Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1+ years of experience in healthcare operations, customer service, or similar role or setting preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office & EMRs
- Ability to multitask and prioritize duties
- Strong written and verbal communication
- HIPAA privacy awareness
- Experience with patient care coordination (e.g., prior authorizations, lab orders, records requests)
- Familiarity with telehealth access and patient portal issues
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented data entry and documentation
- Terminology: FLMA familiarity
