Job Summary
Facilitate patient flow by assisting the doctor in preliminary testing, verifying medical and vision insurances, and answering inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests. Record medical history, current medications, and visit purpose in the Electronic Medical Record while checking eye conditions via pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements. Perform diagnostic tests including dilation, refraction, pressures, visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, and topography. Maintain HIPAA compliance and practice urgency with patient and doctor schedules. Full-time position Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional earlier/later hours.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Favorable result on Background Check
- Basic computer skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excitement to learn and grow
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
