Job Summary
Document patient encounters in real time by joining providers in exam rooms to observe visits, record structured notes including history, assessment, and plan, and assign CPT and ICD-10 codes. Prepare After Visit Summaries and consult with providers to ensure accurate documentation while requesting and reviewing medical records for Clinical Documentation Improvement. Support the care team by placing orders, referrals, and addressing administrative tasks during daily huddles and reviews. Requires medical terminology knowledge, prior clinical experience, and fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other community languages. Commit to at least one year (two preferred) for this full-time role with 40-45 weekly hours.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications
- Advanced listening and communication skills
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows
- Ability to adapt to new workflows and to quickly learn new concepts and skills
- Ability and willingness to take direction and be a member of a team providing patient care, including adapting to the provider's working style
- Excellent job attendance including ability to work in-person in our clinics
- Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role
- Ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours (full time position) with predictable hours and break times
- Compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies, including HIPAA
- US work authorization
- Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities we serve (where indicated)
Desired Qualifications
- Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering
- Prior scribe or transcription experience
- Ability to type 70+ words per minute
- Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role (2+ is ideal)
