Job Summary
Document patient encounters in real time as a Medical Scribe, joining providers in the exam room to observe and document visits and create structured notes including history of present illness, assessment, plan, and physical exam. Assign CPT and ICD-10 codes, prepare After Visit Summaries, and support clinical documentation improvement using population health tools. Provide administrative support for the provider and care team, including placing orders/referrals and assisting with documentation opportunities. Requires strong medical terminology knowledge, high attention to detail, excellent listening/communication skills, proficiency with EHRs, HIPAA compliance, and the ability to work full-time in clinic settings (40-45 hours/week) in Providence, RI. Fluency in required languages as indicated and a commitment to at least 1 year in role (2+ preferred).
Required Qualifications
- US work authorization
- ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours (full time position)
- commit to at least 1 year in role (2+ is ideal)
- compliance with HIPAA
- typing 70+ words per minute (strongly preferred)
- ability to work in-clinic
- Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by communities served (required where indicated)
- medical terminology knowledge
- prior clinical experience or shadowing (strongly preferred)
- knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding (required)
- ability to adapt to new workflows
