Job Summary
Join the provider in the exam room to observe patient visits and document encounters in structured notes, including history, assessment, plan, and physical exam. Assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes, prepare after-visit summaries, and consult with the provider to ensure accurate documentation. Request and review medical records, leverage population health tools for clinical documentation improvement, and support daily huddles and reviews. Place orders and referrals while addressing administrative tasks for the care team. This full-time role requires 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours and at least one year of commitment. Candidates must have medical terminology knowledge, advanced listening skills, and the ability to type 70+ words per minute. Fluency in Spanish, Polish, or Russian is required where indicated.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications
- Advanced listening and communication skills
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows
- Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities we serve
- Ability to adapt to new workflows and to quickly learn new concepts and skills
- Ability and willingness to take direction and be a member of a team providing patient care, including adapting to the provider's working style
- Excellent job attendance including ability to work in-person in our clinics
- Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role
- Ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours (full time position) with predictable hours and break times
- Compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies, including HIPAA
- US work authorization
Desired Qualifications
- Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering
- Prior scribe or transcription experience
- Ability to type 70+ words per minute
- Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role (2+ is ideal)
