Job Summary
Join the provider in the exam room to observe patient visits and document encounters in structured notes, including history, assessment, plan, and physical exam. Assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes, prepare after-visit summaries, and consult with the provider to ensure accurate documentation. Request and review medical records, leverage population health tools for clinical documentation improvement, and support daily huddles and reviews. Place orders and referrals while assisting the care team with additional responsibilities. This full-time role requires 40-45 hours per week, strong typing skills (70+ wpm), and a commitment of at least one year. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications
- Advanced listening and communication skills
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows
- Ability to adapt to new workflows and to quickly learn new concepts and skills
- Ability and willingness to take direction and be a member of a team providing patient care, including adapting to the provider's working style
- Excellent job attendance including ability to work in-person in our clinics
- Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role
- Ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours (full time position) with predictable hours and break times
- Compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies, including HIPAA
- US work authorization
- Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities we serve (where indicated)
Desired Qualifications
- Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering
- Prior scribe or transcription experience
- Ability to type 70+ words per minute
- Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role (2+ is ideal)
