Job Summary
Proactively identify, develop, and maintain relationships with academic and community physicians to promote adoption of Veracyte's Prosigna Breast Cancer test. Identify Key Opinion Leaders, stimulate investigator-initiated studies, and support them through study completion and article publication. Provide tailored presentations to external healthcare providers at the request of sales team members and critically review literature to build educational materials. Serve as the primary scientific and clinical resource for marketing and sales by delivering medical updates, journal clubs, and office hours. Assist the managed care team in setting up insurance applications by providing clinical utility data and support field team members with study completion. Spend approximately 80% of time on healthcare provider-facing activities, including 60% travel within the central United States, while collaborating internally with marketing, sales, and medical affairs.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal scientific and/or clinical degree – Ph.D., M.D., Pharm.D., and D.O.
- At least 5 years of clinical or industry experience, preferably with an oncology focus
- Deep understanding of the peer-review publication process
- Advanced understanding of the genetic basis for disease and modern genomic techniques
- Location in proximity to airport hub and ability to travel within the defined region
- Overall solid written and verbal communication skills to convey complex study results to audiences with varying degrees of scientific/clinical knowledge
- Outstanding interpersonal skills in understanding HCP needs and situational awareness to adapt content and communication style in real time
- Team player working in synergy with marketing and sales team members providing accurate, comprehensive, and timely scientific and clinical support
- Demonstrating customer-centricity and passion for helping patients
- Familiarity with statistical methodologies
- A detail-oriented, organized self-starter with a strong ability to prioritize workload
- This is a full-time position with approximately 80% of time devoted to HCPs-facing activities (in-person or virtually)
- MSLs will spend 20% of their time on internal collaborations across marketing, sales, and medical affairs departments
- This role requires at least 60% travel, providing education to key HCPs and support to field team members in the central United States
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as an MSL in introducing and supporting novel diagnostic assays
