Job Summary
The Medical (Science) Director leads medical affairs activities for immunology across a dual medical network, shaping medical strategies spanning the product lifecycle, coordinating data generation (clinical studies and real-world evidence), and aligning clinical evidence with launch readiness. Responsibilities include designing medical tactics, developing partnerships with external stakeholders (therapeutic area experts, medical societies), leading congress and publication planning, overseeing medical content communications, and representing Genentech externally in cross-functional teams within the Roche group. The role requires advanced clinical/science credentials, robust industry experience, and the ability to thrive in a matrix environment while balancing multiple therapeutic areas. Travel up to 35% is anticipated.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced clinical/science degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical/medical pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience
- Proven track record in developing relationships with external stakeholders (therapeutic area experts, external organizations)
- Understanding of the US health care environment, including payer landscape, marketplace factors/dynamics, and evidence-based medicine tools/practices
- Ability to navigate complex environments across multiple teams
- Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence without authority
- Willingness to travel up to 35%
- Preferred immunology expertise (e.g., lupus, inflammatory bowel disease) is highly desirable
