Job Summary
Director, Medical Safety Officer (MSO) - Biosurgery responsible for medical safety stewardship for MedTech Surgery products. Provides medical safety input to risk management and evaluation of safety signals; leads in risk-benefit assessment, develops and oversees SSPs, reviews adverse events and literature for safety data, and contributes medical safety expertise across the product lifecycle. Collaborates with R&D, Medical Affairs, Quality, Regulatory, and Clinical teams to drive patient-centered innovation, supervise safety-related studies, and support regulatory filings and field actions. Interfaces with customers and healthcare professionals, assesses medical impact of manufacturing issues, and mentors teams on risk management, SOPs, and compliance. Requires MD/DO (or equivalent) and substantial clinical/robotics experience, plus strong safety/risk management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) designation or equivalent (MBChB, etc.)
- Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience as a robotic surgeon in applicable specialties
- Experience in risk evaluation and mitigation
- Knowledge of basic statistical techniques
- Knowledge of basic epidemiological principles
- Training/experience in Robotics
