Job Summary
Lead the daily operations of the HealthWorks medical records department by supervising Medical Records Coordinators and ensuring confidential records are accurately maintained, securely stored, and retrieved within three business days. Train, mentor, and evaluate staff while developing processes to improve workflow efficiency and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Create medical files for new cases, process subpoenas, conduct quality assurance reviews, and prepare departmental reports for the HealthWorks Director. Collaborate with the Quality Improvement Nurse and participate in organizational meetings to support integrated care for children and families.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- at least two years of supervisory experience overseeing the preparation and maintenance of medical records for children
- Four years of experience preparing and maintaining healthcare records for children
- at least two years in a supervisory role
- Valid Illinois driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in medical records or Health Information Management
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical records confidentiality requirements
- Experience with electronic medical record systems and document tracking
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Experience working in pediatric, community health, behavioral health, or healthcare settings
