Job Summary
Medical Records Representative responsible for maintaining patient records, responding to requests for medical records, obtaining records for new and current patients, and performing clerical duties. Responsibilities include handling confidential information under HIPAA, filing patient data electronically, processing and routing medical records requests, handling invoicing and billing related to records requests, distributing documents to physicians and other departments, communicating via efax and mail, coordinating with insurance providers and other entities, providing high-quality customer service, and assisting with general office tasks while adhering to policies. Requires high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and flexibility in scheduling; travel up to 20% may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other co-workers and the public
- Ability to work individually as well as within a team
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Patience and understanding under stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
