Job Summary
Monitor patient demographic information and retrieve and sort health records into proper chart order, ensuring updates, required forms, and signatures meet facility standards. Process requests for health information, including releasing records and obtaining files from outside facilities, while scanning and uploading documents to the EMR. Perform quality checks on images for clarity and positioning, purge and archive medical records as needed, and prepare paper records for electronic indexing. Assist with staff training, cover assigned regions in medical records departments, and order office supplies. Maintain confidentiality and meet designated benchmarks for assigned job functions.
Required Qualifications
- High School/GED graduate
- 3 years experience in general office
- preferably in a medical or psychiatric setting
- Technical school/training may substitute for work experience
- General knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
- Basic math skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
- Proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to utilize Internet for resources
- Typing 45+ wpm
- 10-Key entry experience
- Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state
- If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment
- Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business
- Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business
- Must have an acceptable driving record
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual Stipend – 6% of the base salary
