Job Summary
Directs the medical records program for a skilled nursing facility, establishing and executing procedures to collect, code, index, and file medical records; audits admissions and discharges and other pertinent records on nursing units; reviews department policies and procedures at least annually and participates in recommended changes; ensures return of incomplete charts for correction; abstracts information from records for insurers and third-party payers; maintains registries for admission and discharge of residents; develops and maintains good working rapport with inter-department personnel to ensure proper maintenance of medical records and identification of problem areas.
