Job Summary
Medical Records Director responsible for maintaining the facility's medical records and computerized systems in accordance with Federal and State guidelines and facility policies. Directs the medical records section, plans and organizes processing/storage of records, inputs data into resident charts, conducts periodic audits, and ensures records are complete for insurance companies, Medicare/Medicaid, and regulatory agencies. Provides regular status reports to the Administrator and QA staff, supports program development, and participates in quality improvement activities. Requires nursing education and licensure (LVN/LPN/RN) with Health Informatics education and at least 1 year of Medical Records experience; strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; ability to multitask and work independently; and willingness to work late hours or weekends as needed. Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Valid registration as an LVN/LPN/RN if applying in Louisiana or Mississippi
- Completion of relevant state Board of Nursing approved
- Health Informatics education required
- At least 1 year previous experience in Medical Records
- Knowledge of regulator standards and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and function independently
- Ability to present information to groups of executives/managers/public
- Freedom from illegal drug use; no drug or alcohol use in workplace
- Persons found guilty of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care setting are ineligible
- Late hours and weekend work may be required
