Job Summary
Maintain, organize, and secure active and inactive medical records in compliance with CA, CMS regulations, and facility policies. Review medical charts for accuracy and completeness, following up with nursing and ancillary staff to resolve deficiencies. Ensure documentation meets California Regulations and survey readiness standards while coordinating health information releases per HIPAA and privacy laws. Prepare reports and logs for state and federal surveys, manage record retention, and provide accurate health information to support clinical decision-making. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives. This new role supports clinical operations and resident care at Meadowood Nursing Center, a stable, mission-driven organization committed to regulatory excellence.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to meet regulatory deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desired Qualifications
- Post-secondary education or HIM coursework
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
