Medical Records Clerk

Job Summary
Manage and maintain patient medical records, including preparing, storing, retrieving, and reviewing records for accuracy, completeness, and HIPAA compliance. Duties include scanning paper records into EHR, obtaining physician signatures on diagnostic studies, maintaining active/inactive files, providing records to healthcare providers and staff, generating monthly statistics, and handling release of information requests. Requires high school diploma/equivalent, at least 1 year in a medical setting, and strong organization and confidentiality skills; familiarity with HIPAA and EHR systems preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
- Training in an accredited medical records program or experience with an established medical records system preferred.
- Working knowledge of business English, math, grammar, and spelling; ability to develop correspondence, reports, and operational directives.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Strong organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
