Medical Receptionist, Grassland

Job Summary
Manage the front desk by greeting patients, verifying insurance status, and checking them in according to established protocols. Handle incoming calls, answer patient concerns, and route inquiries to appropriate personnel while scheduling appointments and assessing needs for emergency visits. Enter patient information into the system, collect co-payments and fee-for-service payments, and process receipt documentation. Monitor the reception area for cleanliness, maintain organized paperwork, and ensure compliance with Quality Control Guidelines and Customer Service Standards. Complete opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and form distribution, while tracking diagnostic studies and specialist appointments. Assist with physician schedules, order front office supplies, and coordinate with billing and pharmacy departments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must have predictable and consistent attendance
- Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours a day
- Requires regular walking, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting and lifting
- Must be able to lift at least 10-15 lbs
- Ability to delineate between numeric numbers
- Two years' experience or training in office procedures in a medical environment
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
- Ability to maintain quality control standards
- Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
- Ability to work in accord with all departments in order to facilitate smooth overall care for patient's health and business concerns, as well as remaining in compliance with HMA's policies to ensure we remain in compliance with all governing laws
- High school education equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Good typing and computer skills
- Ability to cope with busy, challenging office environment
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent phone skills
- Pleasant, professional personality
Desired Qualifications
- Electronic Patient Scheduling and Electronic Health Record/Electronic Medical Record system experience helpful
