Medical Receptionist

Job Summary
Greet patients warmly, register them by collecting personal and medical history data, and verify insurance coverage using electronic systems. Communicate copays and deductibles to patients, answer calls, and schedule appointments while coordinating with healthcare providers. Collect payments, process claims, and maintain accurate records in the EHR system, ensuring HIPAA compliance and resolving billing or coverage issues with medical staff. Stay updated on insurance policy changes and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders. Full-time, 5:2 block schedule working every other weekend.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a medical receptionist or similar role in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance verification processes, including insurance plans, coverage, eligibility, and authorizations
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients and effectively collaborate with staff
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Professional demeanor, maintaining confidentiality, and displaying empathy and compassion towards patients
- Full-time employment
- 5:2 block schedule working every other weekend
Desired Qualifications
- Some college coursework in healthcare administration or related field
- Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and coding (ICD-10, CPT)
