Job Summary
Operate and maintain radiology equipment while performing standard examinations including fluoroscopy. Follow documented safe operating procedures and practice effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety techniques. Ensure all images are saved and filed in the appropriate medical record and conduct quality assurance and quality control activities per manufacturer instructions and industry standards. Handle personal and health information in accordance with governing privacy legislation. Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor while demonstrating tact and courtesy with patients, staff, and physicians.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program
- Active registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Experience with fluoroscopy in an operating room environment
- Must be able to comprehend, speak, read and write English fluently and be understood by others with whom they are in contact
- Must be in good physical health and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time without resting
- May be exposed to radiation (within acceptable limits)
Desired Qualifications
- Recent, relevant experience as an MRT performing procedures in general diagnostic imaging and fluoroscopy
- Demonstrated competence in radiological procedures requiring independent judgement and initiative
- Good organization skills and ability to assume responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels of personnel in an inter-disciplinary environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Demonstrated problem solving and critical analysis skills
- Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, staff and physicians
