Job Summary
Medical Provider (Physician, NP, or PA) serves as the Responsible Health Authority in a correctional facility, delivering direct patient care and clinical leadership. Responsibilities include medical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions; clinics and sick call follow-ups; ordering/ interpreting tests; prescribing medications within licensed scope; coordinating referrals and continuity of care during intake, incarceration, transfer, and release; overseeing clinical policies, protocols, and standing orders; coordinating with nursing, mental health, dental, and administrative staff; participating in CQI and accreditation readiness; and providing clinical guidance to staff while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Active New Mexico medical license (MD or DO)
- Nurse Practitioner license (NM)
- DEA registration (as applicable to prescribing authority)
- Experience in correctional, institutional, or high-acuity healthcare preferred
