Job Summary
Provides professional medical physics services in radiation oncology, collaborating with radiation oncologists on designing and modifying radiation treatment plans, evaluating prescriptions, conducting treatment planning, QA programs, equipment calibration/monitoring, and safety compliance. Responsibilities include supervising staff, training on new equipment and protocols, researching new equipment developments, and contributing to policy development and education programs. Requires MS in Radiation Therapeutic Medical Physics, licensed in Therapeutic Medical Physics in Texas, and preferred board certification (ABR/ABM or equivalent). The role emphasizes interpretation of treatment prescriptions, QA for linear accelerators and radiation sources, and ongoing professional development in health and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of MS in Radiation Therapeutic Medical Physics
- At least 6 months of experience related to duties and responsibilities
- Board certified as Medical Physicist (ABR, ABM, or equivalent) preferred
- Texas State License in Therapeutic Medical Physics required
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Knowledge and understanding of current radiation therapy principles, methods, procedures, and techniques
- Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
- Broad product knowledge in area of specialty and ability to develop purchasing specifications
