Job Summary

Provide safe therapeutic radiological physics in the Radiation Oncology Department. Responsibilities include calibration and commissioning of linear accelerators, performing quality assurance of equipment and treatment plans, plan checks, patient-specific QA, chart QA, and implementing new technologies in collaboration with dosimetrists and therapists. The department uses TomoTherapy Hi-Art and Varian TrueBeam; planning with Eclipse and Tomoplan; record/verify via Aria. Successful candidate will hold MS or PhD, be US board certified or eligible (ABR/ABMP), and be or become registered in Iowa as a Radiation Therapy Physicist. Strong teamwork and a good work ethic are valued.

Required Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in medical physics or related field
  • U.S. board certification or eligibility with intent for ABR/ABMP certification
  • must be registered or become registered in Iowa as a Radiation Therapy Physicist
  • calibration and commissioning of linear accelerators
  • quality assurance of equipment and treatment plans
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • experience with TomoTherapy Hi-Art and Varian TrueBeam (planning systems Eclipse and Tomoplan)
  • record and verify through Aria
