Job Summary
Oversee treatment on Varian TrueBeam and Ethos Therapy machines while collaborating with Radiation Oncologists to create and verify treatment plans for Linear Accelerator and HDR Afterloader-based therapies. Conduct calibration, commissioning, and ongoing quality assurance of all radiation-producing equipment to ensure safe and effective patient care. Develop and implement departmental policies, quality improvement initiatives, and long-range plans within Radiation Therapy. Requires a Master's or Doctoral degree in Medical Physics, Board eligibility, and three years of clinical experience in radiation therapy under preceptorship.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science or Doctoral Degree in Medical Physics, or related discipline
- Board eligible
- Three years clinical experience in a radiation therapy department under the preceptorship of a physicist certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapy Physics or Radiological Physics
- Experience shall include calibration of linear accelerators and other radiation sources
- Experience shall include clinical dosimetry of external beams and implant sources
- Experience shall include computer treatment planning
- High Dose Rate Brachytherapy Knowledge/Skills
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy Knowledge/Skills
Desired Qualifications
- Certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Radiation Therapy, Physics or Radiological Physics
- Experience in nuclear medicine and radiology equipment calibration, quality, radiation surveys, and image analysis
- Experience with ARIA
- Experience with Varian linear accelerators
- Experience with Eclipse TPS
- Experience with HDR and VisionRT
