Job Summary

Conduct color stereo retinal fundus photography, serial stereo retinal intravenous fluorescein angiography with IV start-up, and perform OCT on patients. Measure intraocular pressures, perform visual acuity testing, preliminary refraction, and basic visual field testing. Review patient medical and ophthalmic history, identify concerns, and assist physicians with treatments, minor procedures, and patient education. Maintain examination rooms, stock supplies, and manage medication logs and inventories. Provide consistent customer service, assist with patient transfers, and travel to other locations as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Favorable result on background check
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
  • Strong fine motor skills
  • Full use of hands
  • Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to drive or climb

Desired Qualifications

  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
  • Become certified for photography services required for study participation
  • Become certified for photography services required for study participation
  • Highly encouraged to obtain certification as Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
