Job Summary
Coordinate and provide comprehensive cancer care throughout the disease continuum, administering infusion treatments, monitoring patients during and after treatment, and managing symptoms related to both treatment and the disease process. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care while demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and empathy in interactions with patients and caregivers. Serve as a specialized resource by providing ongoing education to staff nurses regarding oncology patient care, offering case consultation, and supporting program services. Maintain Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification. Work part-time during days.
Required Qualifications
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- Oncology-focused assessment skills and knowledge
- Ability to coordinate and provide comprehensive care throughout the cancer disease continuum
- Ability to serve as a patient advocate, educator, and liaison among inpatient, outpatient, and home care settings
- Ability to apply the nursing process in the delivery of patient care
- Ability to administer infusion treatments
- Ability to monitor patients during and after treatment
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care of patients receiving treatment
- Ability to assess for adverse reactions
- Ability to evaluate patient responses to treatment
- Ability to manage symptoms related to both treatment and the disease process
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Close attention to detail
- Sensitivity and empathy in all interactions with patients and caregivers
- Knowledge of Organizational standards established by The Joint Commission
- Knowledge of Patient Safety initiatives
- Knowledge of Department of Health standards
