Job Summary
Provide podiatric medical and surgical services for the TONHC hospital system, including inpatient and outpatient care, diabetic foot management, and consults. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating podiatric conditions, performing surgical procedures under anesthesia, coordinating care with MD/DO colleagues, maintaining records, educating patients and communities on foot health, developing and evaluating a podiatric medical and surgical program, and working toward reducing diabetes-related lower-extremity amputations. Requires DPM with residency training, active licensure, board eligibility in relevant podiatric boards, and ability to obtain necessary clearances; may require fluency in Tohono O'odham language and English and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree
- One year of approved residency training and one year of medical center experiences; or Two years of approved residency training
- Active license to practice podiatric medicine in any state of the United States
- Board eligibility with the American Board of Wound Management, Primary Podiatric Medicine, or the American Board of Podiatric Surgery
- Criminal background and National FBI fingerprint check upon recommendation for hire
- Valid driver’s license (may be required) with clean driving record within last three years
- Fluency in Tohono O'odham language and English (may be a condition of employment)
- Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements
- Supervisory/training skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to conduct inpatient/outpatient podiatric services
- Involvement in program development and evaluation
- Experience with diabetic foot care and limb-sparing goals
- Compliance with tribal employment requirements
