Job Summary

Conduct physical examinations, develop treatment plans, and monitor patients with acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes. Administer medications, respond to medical emergencies, and provide first aid while ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities. Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention. Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and coordinate services within a controlled correctional environment. Adhere to security protocols while working closely with correctional officers to ensure patient safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in STATE
  • Current DEA registration
  • An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification
  • Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards
  • Knowledge of infectious disease management
  • Knowledge of applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information

Desired Qualifications

  • American Heart Association preferred (for BLS CPR Certification)
  • Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center
