Job Summary
Medical Assistant (Full-Time) at San Diego Community Health Center (FQHC). The MA supports providers and licensed staff with administrative and clinical tasks including preparing exam rooms, measuring vital signs, immunizations, CLIA-waived testing, venipuncture training, wound care, specimen labeling, EHR data entry, patient education, care coordination, and inventory management. Must maintain infection control standards, PPE usage, and confidentiality, with potential for extended hours during events. Requires High School diploma or GED and MA certification; preferred CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA certification and 1+ year outpatient experience; CPR/BLS certification required; annual background checks and drug screening as applicable. Culturally competent, trauma-informed care and ability to interpret if bilingual are valued; competency in ECW or similar EHR systems is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical Assistant Certification from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training or education
- Preferred: National certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA)
- Minimum one (1) year of outpatient or community health setting experience preferred
- CPR/BLS certification (in-person skills assessment required)
- Annual background checks as condition of employment
- For-Cause Drug Screening as required
- Ongoing compliance with required annual renewals (licenses/certifications, TB testing, trainings)
- Competency with infection control, OSHA, HIPAA
- Knowledge of EHR systems (ECW or similar)
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Interpretation services if bilingual preferred
- Venipuncture on the job training if not initially certified
