Medical Matron

Medical Matron role for Advanced Practice Providers to support Cardiothoracic Surgeons in the OR as a first assist. Requires 2-3 years CT Surgery/OR experience with RNFA or Surgical First Assist background preferred; may consider new grads with cardiac care experience. Full-time position Monday–Friday 7a to completion of surgeries. Primary duties include predominantly in the OR: conduit harvesting (vein, radial arteries), prepping, draping, opening, closing, and safely transitioning patients to the ICU and perioperative care. Collaborates with Residents, Fellows, and clinicians from Cardiology, Thoracic, Transplant, Radiology, and Anesthesia; ability to work independently in the hospital to maintain patient flow. Teaching hospital environment with emphasis on teamwork, communication, and handling pressure in open heart surgery.
