Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Technologist (OPSEU) in Core Laboratory at Markham Stouffville Hospital - Part Time Temporary role. The successful candidate will work in a Core Laboratory setting across Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion and basic Microbiology procedures. Responsibilities include performing tasks in a fast-paced lab, utilizing a Laboratory Information System (Meditech experience is an asset), applying strong technical skills, and maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and patient-centered care. Must be a certified Medical Laboratory Technologist with CSMLS certification and be a member of the Ontario College of Medical Laboratory Technologists. The role requires teamwork, effective communication, and the ability to take a leadership role when needed. Schedule includes rotating shifts across days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Competency in phlebotomy and adherence to laboratory accreditation and safety guidelines are important, with a commitment to EDIB and a healthy, safe workplace.
Required Qualifications
- General Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology from the CSMLS
- Member of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
- Experience with a Laboratory Information System (Meditech).
- Familiarity with Ontario Laboratory Accreditation Requirements
- Phlebotomy skills are assets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic, multi-tasking laboratory
- Proven ability to work well within a team and take leadership role when called upon
