Job Summary
Determine specimen acceptability and perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation while preparing reference test send outs and bone marrow processing as needed. Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving, then prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls. Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies, assist with specimen processing, and maintain a safe work environment with appropriate personal protective equipment. Work the 2nd shift Monday through Friday from 2:00pm to 10:30pm or 4 x 10s Monday through Thursday from 1pm to 11:30pm.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Proficient with computers
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
- 2nd shift Monday- Friday, 2:00pm - 1030pm. or 4 x 10's M-Thursday 1pm - 11:30pm
- May work some holidays as needed
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year or more of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) generalist
