Job Summary
Perform testing and provide accurate, timely reporting of clinical and environmental laboratory tests as part of a lab team, including bacteriology, environmental testing, molecular testing and antimicrobial susceptibility testing, while ensuring quality outcomes under PHO policies and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include conducting standardized tests, internal/external proficiency testing, reporting results to submitters and healthcare providers within required turnaround times, authorizing release of results, maintaining specimen integrity, monitoring QC materials and equipment, providing guidance to Lab Attendants, supporting senior staff on projects, contributing to the laboratory's Quality Management Program and upholding confidentiality and regulatory compliance. Requires knowledge of medical/environmental lab techniques, laboratory safety practices, accreditation/regulatory requirements, and familiarity with laboratory information systems; active certification with CMLTO and potential security clearance for CL3 work may be required. Physical duties include lifting up to 10 kg, potential standing or sitting for shifts, and rotating shifts as scheduled. Education and experience emphasize CMLTO certification and adherence to PHO policies.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
