Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of complex laboratory tests in areas such as Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Serology, and Urinalysis. The role requires utilizing professional judgment to produce reliable test results aiding in diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include routine testing procedures and ensuring accuracy and proper quality control measures are in place. Candidates must have an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent, meet specific CLIA standards, and have BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or graduate of an MLT program accredited by NAACLS
- Diploma must explicitly state Medical Laboratory Technology or provide a transcript
- General or technical experience in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Serology, Urinalysis, or Transfusion Medicine
- Must meet CLIA '88 standards for testing personnel in a high complexity laboratory
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Certification with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent
- Must obtain certification within one year of hire date
