Job Summary

Perform clinical laboratory testing and analysis for chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and immunology by collecting, processing, and examining biological specimens. Review findings for accuracy, report results to providers, and notify staff of critical abnormalities. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments while executing quality control and assurance activities. Enter data into electronic health records and maintain accurate logs for specimens, testing, and equipment. Adhere to safety, infection-control, and regulatory standards. Assist with inventory management and provide backup support to laboratory leadership. Requires current MLT or MLS certification, relevant education, and strong technical judgment.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or a related qualifying program from an accredited institution
  • Current MLT certification through ASCP, AMT, or another certification accepted by Tanner Clinic
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or a related qualifying program from an accredited institution
  • Current MLS certification through ASCP, AMT, or another certification accepted by Tanner Clinic
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications, and tests
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Knowledge of safety, infection control, and quality assurance policies and regulations
  • Skill in applying appropriate testing procedures
  • Skill in proper use, preventive maintenance, and repair
  • Skill in appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, problem solve, make decisions, and use discretion in reporting/distributing results
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, and staff
  • Ability to organize workload effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy using manual/finger dexterity and eye–hand coordination
  • May occasionally need to lift/carry 50 pounds
