Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) PRN performs routine and specialized laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis; operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and equipment; collects, prepares, and analyzes specimens following established protocols; ensures accuracy and reliability of test results through strict quality control measures; records and reports results to physicians and healthcare providers promptly; maintains laboratory safety in accordance with OSHA, CLIA, and other regulatory standards (COLA); participates in proficiency testing and continuous quality improvement initiatives; manages inventory and ensures adequate supply of reagents and materials; assists in training new staff and students; maintains accurate patient records and laboratory documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations; demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and works effectively as part of a healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP, AMT, or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
