Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist performs routine medical laboratory tests for diagnosing, treating, and preventing disease, including specimen processing and quality control. This role requires maintaining compliance with laboratory procedures, communicating test results, and demonstrating technical skills to students. The position entails performing phlebotomy functions and ensuring accurate reporting of patient test results. Knowledge of CLIA regulations and a strong attention to detail are critical for success in this role.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or MLT with completion of school laboratory training
- Bachelor’s degree in a science related field
- Completion of a clinical laboratory science or medical technology program from an accredited institution with one or more years of experience in clinical laboratory or four or more years of experience in clinical laboratory
- Certification eligibility (ASCP or AMT)
- Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures
- Knowledge of CLIA regulations
- Strong attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
- Plate reading experience
- Parasitology experience
