Job Summary

Medical Laboratory Technician assists with laboratory testing on patient specimens; performs hematology/oncology differentials, runs hematology (Sysmex) and chemistry (Cobas) analyzers, and works as a single tech with minimal support. Strong troubleshooting ability; phlebotomy is a plus. Requires a related science degree (Bachelor's or Associate with certification) and certification within 12 months if applicable; responsibilities include maintaining records, following SOPs, and contributing to development/modification of procedures. Shift is part-time, evenings (1:00PM–9:30PM), four days/week with one weekend per month, at Fishers Hospital, Fishers, IN.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related science (Certification not required)
  • Associate degree in an approved Medical Laboratory Technician Program or a Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician) certification from an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration
  • Certification within 12 months of employment ifAssociate degree is held; failure to achieve may result in downgrade to Lab Assistant II or loss of employment
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Working knowledge of laboratory testing equipment and routine maintenance
  • Ability to maintain quality control and other records
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols
