Medical Laboratory Technician I

Job Summary
Conduct sample assessment, receiving, accessioning, processing, and testing to support high quality laboratory patient results. Prepare specimens for testing, perform routine and specialized laboratory tests using automated and non-automated methods, and evaluate specimen acceptability using two identifiers. Execute quality control testing, troubleshoot instrument errors, and perform preventative maintenance while documenting equipment issues on tracking logs. Recognize normal and abnormal values, communicate technical information to medical and lay persons, and assist in training new staff, students, and residents. Maintain proper stock levels, ensure reagents are quality controlled, and complete competency documentation by deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) or equivalent
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) or equivalent, obtained within the first year of employment if not currently certified
