Job Summary

Perform technical laboratory functions including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and immunology while ensuring quality control in specimen collection and maintaining accurate record keeping. Maintain laboratory equipment by setting up, calibrating, and testing sterility, then process specimens timely to meet specific turnaround-time criteria. Report test results following clinic protocols, alerting providers about abnormal findings, and investigate inconsistent results to initiate corrective actions. Comply with all laboratory policies and OSHA regulations regarding safety and infection control. This generalist role covers all Clinical Laboratory areas and requires ASCP or AMT certification with two years of healthcare field experience.

Required Qualifications

  • National Agency Check and Inquiries with Fingerprints
  • Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or an equivalent Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification with appropriate training
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory, or related science
  • Completion of medical technology clinical practice program
  • All licenses, permits, and certifications as required by law and this contract
  • Two years of experience in a health care field that demonstrates the applicants ability to perform the work or provides an understanding of the work such as but not limited to a medical or clinical laboratory assistant (or technician) or health technician
  • Two Professional References
  • Negative Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA)
  • Negative chest radiographic report for active tuberculosis (in cases of positive TST or IGRA results)
  • Proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, & Rubella
  • Proof of immunity for Varicella
  • Proof of 1 dose of Tdap vaccination for Acellular Pertussis
  • Annual Influenza vaccine
  • COVID-19 vaccine (unless there is a medical or religious waiver)
  • Negative Covid test weekly (for employees with approved medical or religious waiver to the vaccine)
  • Ability to perform technical laboratory functions including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and immunology
  • Ability to report test results following clinic protocols, alerting providers and/or nurses about abnormal results
  • Ability to ensure quality control in collecting specimens, ensure appropriate sampling, and maintain accurate record keeping
  • Ability to maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Ability to set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test the sterility of medical laboratory equipment
  • Ability to comply with all laboratory policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, and infection control
  • Ability to work either of the following shifts, depending on the laboratory's needs and requirements
  • Regular work hours 8:00 am – 4:30 pm: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, including weekends and holidays
