Job Summary
Conduct pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing while following standard operating procedures to ensure laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are met. Serve as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborate with departments across the enterprise, demonstrating critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Perform other related duties as assigned. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to state requirements for license and certifications, with Basic Life Support certification as required. This role supports Sanford Health's mission to transform the health care experience across the upper Midwest, serving over 2 million patients through a network of hospitals, clinics, and senior care communities.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Lab Technician Associates degree in Laboratory Science
- National certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency
- Registry eligibility for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT)
- Successful completion of the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment (for registry eligible candidates)
- License or provisional license by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice (if working in North Dakota)
- Continuing education credits equivalent to state requirements for license and certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Bachelor's degree in biology or other related field that includes 30 combined semester hours of biological science and chemistry
- Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences
- National certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency
- Registry eligibility for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
- Successful completion of the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment (for registry eligible candidates)
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT)
- License by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice (if working in North Dakota)
- Continuing education credits equivalent to state requirements for license and certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated lab experience, including but not limited to college laboratory experience
