Job Summary
Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Collect laboratory specimens, process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position. Exercise critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Demonstrate commitment to organizational values and ethics. Seek personal learning opportunities. Recognize safety hazards and comply with all safety practices and protocols. Assist in training new staff. Serve as a laboratory resource. May be required to travel to other locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences
- National certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved HHS agency (e.g., ASCP) or registry eligible
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable
- Registry eligible must complete Board of Registry exam within 12 months of employment
- ND license if working in North Dakota
- Continuing education credits to maintain license/certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required
- Travel to other locations may be required
