Job Summary
Conduct pre-analytic, analytical, and post-analytical laboratory workflows, including specimen collection, processing, testing, and result reporting. Verify orders and specimens, troubleshoot test system issues, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Execute quality control procedures, interpret results, and communicate critical values to physicians. Manage billing, document storage, and staff training while adhering to safety protocols and confidentiality standards. Work 20 hours per week from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with every third weekend rotation at Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health qualifying the applicant to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent certification examination
- General MLS or MT (ASCP) Certification or eligible
- Categorical BB, C, H or M (ASCP) Certification or eligible
- Must be ASCP certified (or equivalent certification) within one year of employment
- Must complete a background check that includes criminal history
- Must complete an authorization and disclosure form for the background check
- Must be available for every third weekend rotation
- Must work 20 hours per week
- Must work the schedule from 6:30a to 3pm
