Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT) collects, processes, and analyzes blood and other specimens using laboratory instrumentation and microscopes, conducting hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis tests. Responsibilities include ensuring validity and quality of results, serving as a resource for physicians, training patients in sample collection, maintaining records, performing calibrations and troubleshooting, and developing/maintaining cell or tissue cultures as appropriate. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field, CLIA 88 personnel qualifications, and certification from ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW, plus at least one year of clinical-lab experience. The position is full-time with day shifts, and includes responsibilities across hematology, microbiology, immunology, chemistry, and urinalysis, as well as blood-drawing for transfusion purposes and specimen handling.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or related field (or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and work experience)
- Meet all personnel requirements for testing personnel under CLIA 88
- Required Certificates as a laboratory professional by ASCP, AMT, NCA or HEW
- One year experience in a clinical setting, preferably hospital-based laboratory
- Licensed or certified as Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist by AMT/ASCP/ACLP etc. Upon Hire
- Demonstrated ability to perform clinical laboratory tests in hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis; ability to conduct quality control and calibrations
